Lafayette was founded in 1821 as Vermilionville but was renamed in 1884 with the name we all know and love Lafayette. It was founded by Jean Mouton. Learn more about us and our story in the about page.

How to get around?
Our city is fairly easy to navigate. If you aren't driving to come and see us, we highly reccomend you rent a car, book an Uber or hail a taxi.
If you ever get lost don't be shy! Come down to the city office and we'll have someone sort you out ASAP! Maps are offered in the office.
